About Speaker
Melissa Ingaruca Moreno is a transdisciplinary explorer whose work bridges multispecies worldviews, urban design, and experiential futures. In her PhD research in "Multispecies Cities and Emerging Technologies", she investigates how to design for multispecies flourishing by engaging with the subjectivity and agency of more-than-human species. Her project Endarken, awarded by the School of International Futures, unveiled futures where nighttime darkness was reclaimed for multispecies cohabitation. Participants collaborated with bioluminescent and fluorescent mushrooms to co-design darker urban landscapes. Her latest project, Fungal Futures, is a transdisciplinary platform leveraging experiential futures and mixed reality to create experiences of embodying and co-designing with fungi.
