About Speaker
Prof. Lonny Avi Brooks is Chair in Communication at Cal State University, East Bay, and the co-Producer of The Afrofuturist Podcast. He is the co-Organiser of the Black Speculative Arts Movement and co-Founder of the AfroRithm Futures Group. Among his numerous engagements, he is involved with the Community Futures School, Museum of Children’s Arts, Institute For The Future, Long Now Foundation, and Hasso Plattner Institute for Design at Stanford University. He is the co-author of Afrofuturism 2.0: The Rise of Astro-Blackness, the Lead Editor of When is Wakanda? as part of the Journal of Futures Studies, and the author of “From Algorithms to AfroRithms in Afrofuturism” in Black Experience in Design: Identity, Expression & Reflection.
