About Speaker
Adriana Marais has a background in theoretical physics, with her PhD and postdoctoral research focusing on quantum biology and the origins of the building blocks of life in space. She is a researcher at Stellenbosch University and the National Institute for Theoretical and Computational Sciences and a faculty member at Singularity University. Adriana is a Director of the Foundation for Space Development Africa, preparing Africa’s first lunar mission, Africa2Moon, and serves as a scientific moderator on space resources with the Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator. In 2019, Adriana left her position as Head of Innovation at SAP Africa to found Proudly Human and lead the organisation’s Off-World Project, which prepares for extreme conditions on Earth and beyond.
