Riel Miller is a pioneer in the theory and practice of using the future to change what people see and do. He began his career at the OECD in Paris in 1982 and holds a PhD in Economics from the New School for Social Research, New York. Riel has worked for the Ontario Government in various capacities, including as a senior manager in the Ministries of Finance, Universities, and Industry. He later returned to the OECD to work in the International Futures Programme and with the Centre for Educational Research and Innovation. Riel founded the independent consultancy Xperidox (which means "knowledge through experience") and served as Head of Foresight and Futures Literacy at UNESCO. Since early 2022, he has been affiliated as a Senior Fellow with numerous universities worldwide, including the universities of New Brunswick, Stavanger, Witwatersrand, Stanford, East China Normal, and more.
