Prof. Angela Maas is a clinical cardiologist with over 30 years of experience, who has developed a primary interest in heart diseases in women. She established the first outpatient clinic for women in the Netherlands in 2003 and was appointed as a Professor in cardiology for women at Radboud University, Nijmegen, in 2012. Her main interests are the early identification of women at increased cardiovascular risk and symptom evaluation in middle-aged women. She has received many awards, including from the Dutch Society of Female Physicians in 2010, the Hermesdorf Award of Radboud University in 2014, and was knighted by the King of the Netherlands in 2017. She has been one of the most influential female doctors in Dutch healthcare and was the 2020/2021 Women’s Representative of the Dutch Government to the United Nations.
