Fanette Brandalac

WHO Western Pacific Regional Office

With a background spanning over a decade in international development and public health, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with diverse organizations to effect positive change. I currently serve as a Technical Officer and acting team Coordinator in the Data, Strategy and Innovation group at the World Health Organization Western Pacific Regional Office in the Philippines. The group instigates new thinking and new ways of working to tackle the Region’s evolving public health challenges, together with other technical divisions across the Organization and Member States. Since 2019, the Strategic Dialogue team acts as an enabler for Member States and WHO colleagues to build future-ready health systems through foresight-based policy dialogues. I began my futures journey at WHO’s Western Pacific Regional Office during the pandemic, applying strategic foresight and futures thinking to enhance health system planning, but also to imagine possible health futures amidst COVID-19. My first entry point into futures-thinking however was the realization that climate change would create drastically different futures. In prior roles with organizations like Expertise France, the Red-Cross, and the International Rescue Committee, I focused on advancing health and development for all through various programs. Holding Master’s degrees in International Relations and Health and Environment Sciences, I’m dedicated to promoting global health and equity for healthier futures.
