Jose is from Barcelona and received a PhD in bio-inspired robotics from the Tokyo Institute of Technology. Currently, he is with the Computer Science Department at UAE University where he teaches Visualization, Leadership in IT, and Design Thinking. His research focuses on applied data science and Human Computer Interaction. Dr. Jose also coaches entrepreneurs and is a part-time angel investor in various EdTech startups such as Citationsy.com, OA.mg & QualNotes.com. He has consulted for various companies and governments such as Apple, Lulu Group, Etihad Airways, winningimpact.com and Porsche Middle East on topics ranging from analytics and creativity. Jose is a Kaggle competitions master and has authored various books and textbooks such as the Brown Book of Design Thinking, Sketch Thinking: Learn to communicate your ideas with simple drawing techniques, and Introduction to Data Visualization & Storytelling.
