Dubai Museum of the Future Foundation hosted a delegation from Watani Al Emarat’s ‘Expo 2020 Leaders’ programme. The meeting was aimed at introducing the delegation to the achievements and the most important initiatives of the Dubai Museum of the Future Foundation.
Welcoming the members of the delegation, Saif Al Aleeli, CEO of Dubai Museum of the Future Foundation, commended their major role as ambassadors of the biggest global event of its kind which will be held under the theme ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’.
During the meeting, Al Aleeli highlighted the most important achievements of the Foundation since it was established in August 2015 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. He said the Foundation was established to support the UAE policies in promoting innovation and developing a stimulating environment for innovation to meet the requirements of the new generation in building future smart cities.
Al Aleeli said: “Dubai Museum of the Future Foundation aims to adopt creative ideas and launch innovative initiatives to contribute to the building of a knowledge-based economy. We are focused on efforts to encourage innovation with the support of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Museum of the Future Foundation.”
Aleeli said the Foundation represents an incubator of ideas and innovations, supporting the development of a stimulating environment for innovation and innovators. The Foundation also aims to develop long-term solutions that contribute to sustainable development, he added.
The meeting highlighted the most important initiatives launched by the Foundation, the annual Museum of the Future at the World Government Summit, and the headquarters of the main museum, which will open in 2018 featuring laboratories for innovation in health, education, smart cities, energy, and transportation. This project represents a unique architectural masterpiece of its kind and includes new technologies developed specifically for the building on Sheikh Zayed Road.
The delegation was also briefed about the ‘Mostaqbal Portal’, which will publish studies, research findings, articles, visual materials and infographics in areas related to science and technology, including: space science, health, science, artificial intelligence, smart networks, and virtual reality and news related to Future Museum, public and scientific studies, and other specialised areas.
Aleeli also spoke about the World Federation of Future Sports which will coordinate with existing global federations in organizing global competitions and activities around future sports. The Federation will provide advice and propose initiatives aimed at creating economic value for the future sports sector. It will also organize the World Future Sports Games, promote future sports competitions and set the standards for this sector.
Other initiatives highlighted during the meeting include the UAE Drones for Good Award, the UAE AI & Robotics Award for Good, and the world’s First 3D Printed Office Building in Dubai.
The delegation praised the role of the Foundation in promoting community awareness of the importance of innovation to keep up with the demands of the future, and stimulating innovation at the local, regional and international levels. The delegation members stressed the need for more cooperation in the coming period to benefit from the achievements and successful practices to contribute to the success of Expo Dubai 2020.
Watani Al Emarat’s ‘Expo 2020 Leaders’ programme aims to build a new generation of qualified leaders to achieve the goals of the UAE to enhance its global leadership by providing them with knowledge and experience to support social development initiatives in the country.
