Dubai Museum of the Future Foundation and MBRSC join hands to promote innovation in drones sector

Dubai Museum of the Future Foundation and Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre announced their mutual goal to strengthen cooperation and work together to achieve the objectives of the UAE Drones for Good Award, the most prominent award of its kind on the global level.

The cooperation includes innovative initiatives to enhance the standards of scientific research and development in the UAE, especially in the field of drones and smart systems to highlight promising and innovative talents. One of the most important initiatives will be the launch of the Universities Challenge to allow innovative students to enter the world of drones technologies and identify its applications and challenges and regulatory frameworks. It will also enable them to develop solutions in various fields such as search and rescue systems in coastal areas, traffic control and reporting of road accidents and congestion in addition to offering support for global events and essential services.

The strategic partnership between Dubai Museum of the Future Foundation and Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre through the UAE Drones for Good Award represents the efforts of closer cooperation and integration between the various government initiatives, and aims to implement the National Innovation Strategy launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The partnership is also a new step towards achieving the UAE Vision 2021, which aims to make the UAE one of the best countries in the world over the next few years.

Saif Al Alili, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Museum of the Future Foundation, and Coordinator General of the UAE Drones for Good Award, said: “We aim to achieve the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to promote innovation and impart happiness in the lives of citizens. In this regard, we are pleased to work with Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre to expand the scope of this award, and provide an opportunity for national and local university students to innovate in the field of drones technologies. It will enable them to employ the applications in this technology to serve the society and develop government services based on a forward-looking vision.”

The strategic partnership contributes to increasing the participation of national sectors and industries in the UAE Drones for Good Award, in addition to providing opportunities to take advantage of Advanced Aerial Systems Programme in Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre, which focuses on the research and development of aerial systems in the UAE.

Engineer Salem Al Marri, Assistant Director General for Scientific and Technical Affairs at MBRSC, said: “Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre aims through this partnership to strengthen the role of the UAE as an ideal platform for promoting innovative ideas of innovators, manufacturers and investors in this sector.”

Sarah Amiri, Manager of Advanced Aerial Systems Programme in Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre, said: “The Centre seeks to build national capacities in the field of science and technology through the development of space and aerial programmes. The UAE Drones for Good Award is an effective platform for advanced aerial systems sector, and stimulates the spirit of competition to promote cooperation and innovation in the development of the sector to serve humanity in line with the strategic objectives of the UAE.”

 

This partnership offers UAE Drones for Good Award additional values of excellence at the local and global levels. MBRSC will promote this award in all events, conferences and exhibitions it takes part, and a group of specialists and experts within the judging panels will take part in the international and national competitions of the award.

This partnership reflects the success of the initiatives launched by the UAE government in establishing a range of leading innovative platforms on the global level. The national expertise and talents in Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre will contribute to strengthening the role of the UAE Drones for Good Award and make it more sustainable over the long term by offering technical support and opportunities for expansion as well as participation in the judging panels and sponsorship of the event.
