The Future of X; an overview look into the future of different sectors.
Dubai Future Foundation is launching The Future of X; a series of workshops that aim to highlight the outlooks of both local and global experts on the future of their respective fields.
The first workshop will focus on the Future of Health and will be led by our very own foresight expert, Dr. Maddalena Campioni, Senior Faculty Member at the Dubai Future Academy, alongside experts in the health sector. The session will be followed by a Q&A.
Speakers
Professor Baron Peter Piot, Director of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and a Handa Professor of Global Health.
A clinician and microbiologist by training, Dr. Piot co-discovered the Ebola virus in Zaire in 1976, and subsequently led pioneering research on HIV/AIDS, women’s health, and infectious diseases, mostly in Africa. He has held academic positions at the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp; the University of Nairobi; the University of Washington, Seattle; Imperial College London, and the College de France, Paris. He was a Senior Fellow at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and past president of the International AIDS Society. Professor Piot is a member of the US National Academy of Medicine, the National Academy of Medicine of France, the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, and the Royal Academy of Medicine of his native Belgium, and is a fellow of the UK Academy of Medical Sciences and the Royal College of Physicians.
Dr. Mohammad Al Redha, Director of Project Management Office, Health Informatics & Smart Health at Dubai Health Authority
Dr. Mohammad Al Redha is the Director of Project Management Office, Health Informatics & Smart Health at Dubai Health Authority. He is a graduate and post-graduate of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He was also a research fellow in clinical informatics at Harvard Medical School in Boston and a member of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Programme for Leadership Development - Young Leaders.
Dr. Sameh El-Saharty, Program Manager for Human Development at The World Bank
Dr. Sameh El-Saharty is responsible for the Bank’s advisory services in health, education, social protection and labor in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. Before joining the Bank, he held several positions with USAID, UNFPA, Harvard University, and Pathfinder International. He also held the position of Assistant Professor of International Health at Georgetown University in the U.S. He is a member of distinguished boards including the Global Think Tank of the NIH’s Center for Translational Research and Implementation Science, the Dean’s Leadership Council of Harvard Chan School of Public Health; and Chair of the Advisory Committee of the MENA Health Policy Forum. He is a Medical Doctor with a Master’s Degree in International Health Policy and Management from Harvard University.

Othman Chiheb is product marketing lead of HoloLens & Mixed Reality for Microsoft and has driven the world first premiere 24h Holographic Surgery event. He will share with us why and how Mixed reality will reshape the future of healthcare.

Dr. Maddalena Campioni, Senior Faculty Member at Dubai Future Academy
Dr Maddalena Campioni is a foresight expert, practitioner and capacity building professional. She is currently a Senior Faculty Member at the Dubai Future Academy, and has taught at multiple levels from designing and delivering senior management courses at the London School of Economics, to Master level courses at leading universities (Bocconi, Antwerp Institute of Tropical Medicine, Columbia University) and more.
Maddalena held various advisory roles: Senior advisor to the Executive Director at the United Nations, managing a global foresight and Scenario building Initiative; Foresight Advisor at the UK Government in foresight, science and technology, worked for multiple department since 2005 (Department of International Development, Department of Health, Department of International Trade).
She was also former advisor to the WHO Representative to the EU and executive Fellow at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (2014-2015). In that period she also chaired the Board of Global Future, promoting future dialogue among key stakeholders in Geneva.
Advisory role for the Italian Health Authorities for the Veneto region and part of the Management school.
Maddalena was co-founder and managing director of Scenario Development since 2001 leading numerous projects and programs. Advising USAid, and the Government of Slovenia, Dutch Government, multinationals, UN agencies, Academia, NGOs and multiple similar assignments.
