In the past few years, sustainability has been one of the core topics in the Fashion industry and how it will affect the industry moving forward.

About the speakers:

Arwa Al Banawi is an urban-luxury ready to wear brand, bridging gaps between high end fashion and street-wear. Like her eponymous label, the Saudi designer is an eclectic mix of contrasts, blending traditional-classical tailoring with contemporary” East meets West perspectives”, to empower the women of today. Born and raised in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Al Banawi also spent a large part of her childhood between Germany and Switzerland. Her travels abroad instilled a deep love and appreciation for Fashion. A former investment banker, she saw a void in the market for womenswear that is both professional and fashion forward for the young business woman “on the go “. After studying at the London College of Fashion in Dubai, she launched her namesake brand in 2015.

Nadine Kanso, as a noted photographer and award-winning haute jewellery designer, Beirut-born and Dubai-dwelling Nadine Kanso is modern Arabia’s creative ambassador to the world. Be it her calligraphy inspired precious adornments or gritty artworks depicting contemporary Middle Eastern life, her message remains constant.

Nadine gained two degrees from the Lebanese American University - Communication Arts and Advertising Design – and an appreciation graphic design, typography and fashion laid the foundation for her work in design and photography today. Having worked in various design-related fields along with several stints in journalism, relocating to Dubai prompted her to dedicate her time to photography. Her perspective was soon coveted for its contemporary view on Arab life and culture.

Heba el Habashy, has 10 years of entrepreneurial and start-up experience and is currently an angel investor and sits on a number of advisory boards of startups in the MENA region including Egyptian Hydrofarms a hydroponic farming concept based in Cairo.

Most recently she was the Director of Investments at Future Tech Lab, a London based Investment company focused on materials science, biotech, nanotech and circularity in the retail space. Their portfolio companies notably include Pangaia; a sustainable streetwear label, Mycowork; a leather alternatives company, and Diamond Foundry; an above the ground diamond lab.
