Overview
Ever wonder what are the secrets to addressing gaps in the market for a successful entrepreneurial journey? Join us on Tuesday, 27th October at 3pm (GMT +4) and learn more from our guest speaker Nader AlBastaki, Corporate Strategy Lead at Dubai Future Foundation.
About the speaker
Nader’s entrepreneurial spirit started very early in his life. During his university days, he started a cosmetic distribution network in the university town that he was based in, in Canada, and went on to widen the service market to include periphery townships and cities. With his initial taste of success and graduation, he sold his venture embarked on his next life journey.
Being exposed to the trough of the Financial Crisis, Nader was exposed to 2 fundamental trends in the market. Being agile and finding new opportunities whilst remaining nimble. With global trade and access to capital hindered by the crisis, growing sectors and technologies were somewhat overlooked and in some cases quite lucrative. Nader capitalized on both a sectoral opportunity and a technological breakthrough to start another 2 ventures – one in automotive parts trading, and one in HealthTech. The automotive parts company served its purpose with a time-bound need for access, and was closed when the opportunity no longer existed – a great endeavor. The HealthTech entity brought further learnings – although technology enabled the creation of new products, consumers and regulators had to be educated extensively on the benefits of using the technology – a concept that was picked up late in the startup’s journey and ultimately realized the value of early adopters and education too late. Another learning for future endeavors.
